Description
Boughton Court is a manor house that dates back to the 15th century, with a refronting and extension from the 18th century. The building is timber framed and covered with painted brick, topped by a plain tiled roof. It features a hall range with a rear wing and an extension that includes a malthouse and offices. The house is two storeys high with a hipped roof that has gablets and a central stack. On the first floor, there are three wooden casements, and the ground floor also has three casements, with a canted bay window to the right. To the left, there is a one-storey extension with a projecting hipped malthouse. Inside, the heavy frame is visible, showing evidence of jettying at both the front and rear. There is a brattished dais beam and service doors, while the rear wing features two-tier ogee bracing made from large scantling. This building was formerly the chief manor of Boughton.
