Description
Foxenden Manor is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with significant alterations made in 1604 and 1948. The building features a timber frame that is exposed with plaster infill, resting on a flint base, and is topped with a plain tiled roof. To the left, there is a 20th-century extension made of rendered brick with applied timbers.
The right end of the house has framed bays that are two storeys high and jettied, showcasing an ogee braced frame and a returned hipped roof. The central gable rises to two storeys and an attic, jettied at the first floor and at the gable. This gable is adorned with a carved bresummer, a bargeboard, and a pendant, and it features the date 1604 within a framed surround. There are chimney stacks located to the centre left and at the end right of the building.
The windows are arranged irregularly, with one wooden casement on each floor to the left and right, along with a brick and wooden mullioned bay window below the gable that has five lights, some of which alternate with transoms. A boarded door is located on the right side of a 20th-century hipped porch towards the centre right. The interior retains its complete internal frame.
