Description
Hoggeshaws is a Wealden hall house, now functioning as a residential property, dating from the 15th century and 1700. It features a timber frame set on a flint plinth, with exposed plaster infill. The left and right end bays are underbuilt with red brick on a red brick plinth, topped by a plain tiled roof. The building consists of four framed bays, originally designed with a two-bay hall, and includes a screens passage in the left end half bay, with a later stack backing onto it.
The house is two storeys high, with the central two bays recessed. It has a flying wall plate supported by curved braces and a hipped roof with gablets and a stack positioned to the centre left. There are four wooden casement windows on the first floor and three on the ground floor, along with a central boarded door located under the eaves. An arched doorway leading to the screens passage remains on the left side. The left return front is constructed of brick, featuring a plinth and plat band, and originally had four brick mullioned windows. An aedicule on the chimney is dated 1700.
