Description
Nos 50 to 60 on OSPRINGE STREET are a row of early 19th-century houses. Nos 50 and 52 are two-storey buildings with one window bay and one door each. They feature a gabled roof and are constructed of painted brick. The windows are four panes wide and set in reveals, with painted brick voussoirs above them. Each doorway is accessed by a flight of six steps, with No 52 having four steps, and both doorways are round-headed with semi-circular fanlights. The doorcases have narrow panelled pilasters and small flat moulded hoods on shaped brackets above. No 52 has a four flush panelled door.
Nos 54, 56, 58, and 60 are also early 19th-century houses, two storeys tall, with Nos 54 and 56 having an attic storey. This section has four windows and three dormers, constructed of yellow brick, while Nos 56 and 58 have pebble-dashed fronts. They feature a dentilled wooden eaves cornice and a half-hipped tiled roof, with intact glazing bars. The doorways are adorned with pilasters, a pediment, rectangular fanlights, and No 60 has a six-panel door, while Nos 56 and 58 have modern flush type doors.
