Description
The Former Cherry Tree Public House is a building that originated in the 18th century or earlier, with extensions and alterations made in the early 20th century. It is constructed of painted brick, with extensions in red brick, and features plain tiled roofs. The structure consists of two parallel ranges, with the front range having a projecting ground floor. It stands two storeys high, with a moulded brick dentilled cornice above the ground floor and a parapeted flat roof. The main range has boxed eaves leading to a hipped roof, which includes a stack positioned to the centre right. The rear range is gabled and has a stack at the end left.
On the first floor, there are two glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor features two large 20th-century casement windows and a central panelled door topped with a rectangular fanlight and a keyed head. The rear elevation also has glazing bar sashes. The building has served as a public house since at least 1816 and was closed in 1979.
