Description
Nos 20 to 24 on High Street are a row of terrace houses built around 1700, although they have been significantly altered and restored. The two-storey facade features six windows and is constructed of red and blue stock brick. Above the windows, there are flat arches made of red headers. The building has a random stone plinth with brick quoins and three small quarter basement lights. Access is through three modern panelled doors, which are reached by two projecting brick steps. These doors are set in moulded wooden doorcases with panelled reveals and soffits, topped with flat projecting moulded bracketed hoods. The modern sash windows, which include glazing bars, are framed in exposed moulded surrounds. The eaves and gutter are heavy and feature a projecting moulded modillioned design. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles, and there are three flat-roofed leaded dormers: a large dormer on the left with sash windows and two smaller dormers on the right with casement windows. Nos 6 to 24 form a group.
