Description

The Grey House is a circa 1760 building, likely a house, situated on Church Street in Seal. It is constructed of stone blocks laid in continuous courses, with flint infilling, and features brick quoins. A stone plinth and band run along the front. The building has curved concave plaster eaves with moulding and a gutter, and a hip tiled roof. A central dormer window was added in the 19th century. The symmetrical front elevation includes a centrally positioned panelled door within a wooden doorcase featuring pilasters and a moulded entablature. The original windows are 18th-century sash windows with bars, set in exposed frames. A large 19th-century rear extension connects to a 17th-century or earlier wing, which has further 19th-century alterations at its far end.
