Description

Nos. 63 and 65 on High Street are likely a 16th-century framed structure. The first floor overhangs and is supported by wooden brackets. It is covered with 19th-century fishscale tiles, which rise to form a parapet with lead coping, and the tiles extend down as half gables on both sides. Behind the parapet, there is a ridge tile roof that is hipped to the left, topped with one tall chimney stack.

The ground floor features early 19th-century shop windows, including a small splayed bay, with a stucco base that has incised lines. The soffit of the overhanging first floor is plastered and has a moulded wooden fascia. The overhanging first floor is raised in the center and supported by carved brackets. On the first floor, there are three 18th-century sash windows with glazing bars in the center, flanked by large modern painted wooden mullioned and transomed casements.

The side elevation facing Rochdale Road displays exposed half-timbering on the ground floor with red brick infilling, topped with tile-hanging above.
