Description
No. 199 on Main Road is a cottage that is part of a row of three cottages, dating from the mid-18th century. It has been refenestrated in the 19th century and has undergone alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick, which is painted on the front elevation, and features a tile-hung gable on the left end. It has a tiled roof with an end brick chimney stack.
The cottage is L-shaped and has two storeys with two windows. On the first floor, there is one triple 19th-century casement window and one blank space. The ground floor features a triple 19th-century casement window with a cambered head and a single light sash window with a cambered head, which likely replaced a former doorcase. The building has a moulded wooden eaves cornice and a plat band, as well as a plinth.
The left side elevation shows two blocked cambered-headed windows and the outline of the end chimney stack, with stone at the base and brick above. There is a 20th-century glazed, penticed wooden porch in the two-storey brick L wing to the left. The rear elevation has a tile-hung gable and altered windows.
