Description

Pickmoss, including the former No 67 known as Pickmoss Cottage, is a Grade II* listed building located on the south side of High Street in Otford. This structure has been converted into a single dwelling. The right part of the building dates back to the late 16th century and features two storeys with three windows. It has a high-pitched tiled roof with a ridge stack that has rebated angles. The first floor is characterized by close-studded construction with a continuous jettied appearance on exposed joists, and plaster filling. The right return displays a rendered oversailing gable end. The first floor includes restored oriel windows with mullions and transoms, while the ground floor showcases restored close studding and mullioned windows. The entrance features a door made of old panelling, and the foundation is constructed from coursed rubble.

The left part of the building is a timber-framed cottage from around 1700, which has been faced with brick and has had its front completely restored in old oak to mimic the close-studded plaster-filled front of the main house. This section also has two storeys and an attic, with two windows and a hipped tiled roof on the left side. It features mullioned windows with leaded casements, including a large window with three rows of gothic-arched lights, and studded oak doors.
