Description
The Crown Inn is a 17th century or earlier timber-framed building located on the east side of High Street in Shoreham. It features painted brick elevations and stands two stories tall, with exposed framing on the street side. The first floor oversails and is supported by exposed timber joists. The roof has ridge tiles and is half hipped at the ends. A projecting inn sign is displayed on the first floor. The side elevation facing Crown Road includes a large 19th century projecting bay that is one story high, featuring a public house front and windows. The first floor has various 19th century casement windows facing the High Street. Inside, there is much heavy exposed timber, including an inglenook with an old beam, although the brickwork has been renewed.
