Description
The stable block to the southwest of Hall Place is a square building dating from the 1870s, as indicated by the datestone. It surrounds a cobbled courtyard and is currently used partly as garages and storerooms, and partly for residential purposes. The building is primarily one storey with attics, except for a two-storey square tower at the eastern angle. It features a high-pitched roof covered with large slates. The structure is built of red brick with a pattern of blue headers and has stone dressings. Along the northeast side of the courtyard, there is a glazed loggia supported by a cast-iron frame. The large entrance to the courtyard is marked by a four-centred arch. Above this entrance, there is a tall wooden cupola that houses a clock, topped with a copper dome and a vane. The stable block is part of a group that includes Hall Place, the terrace walls and gates to the northwest, the terrace walls and steps to the northeast, the estate office and workshop block, and the garden walls.
