Description
This is a barn located approximately 50 yards south-west of Otterden Place, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of red brick with occasional grey headers in Flemish bond, set on a flint plinth, and features a plain tile roof that is hipped. Each long side of the barn has a row of narrow ventilation slits. There is a canopy on the north side, likely original, located in the third bay from the east, with low doors directly opposite on the south side. Additionally, there are low doors in the sixth bay from the east.
Inside, the barn consists of seven bays, with front and rear aisles, and an end aisle to the west. The arcade posts are set on brick plinths with wooden cills, and feature gunstock jowls and archbraces. Arch braces connect the arcade ties to the arcade posts. The roof structure is a clasped purlin design, with diminishing principal rafters and intermediate collars.
