Description
This monument, located about 13 metres east of the chancel of the Church of All Saints, dates from around 1800 and is dedicated to John Gibbons, who passed away in the same year. Made of stone, it features a pedestal with a moulded plinth and cornice, resting on a plain stone base. At the top, there is an oval finial on a slightly raised circular base. The inscription, which is found only on the east side, commemorates Gibbons as the former master of the Free-School in Yalding, noting that he began his tenure there in 1748 and served for 51 years.
