Description
Brushings Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 16th century or earlier. It is constructed with a timber frame featuring exposed studding and plaster infilling, topped with a plain tile roof. The building consists of four timber-framed bays and may be of Wealden type. It has two storeys and a continuous jetty, although the jetty to the centre bays has been inserted. The first floor of the end bays displays broadly spaced close studding with tension braces. The roof is hipped with gablets, and there is a projecting brick stack at the left end, which has a flint base and brick dressings. Additionally, there is a multiple brick stack on the front slope of the roof towards the right and a slender projecting stack at the right end. The fenestration is irregular, featuring five leaded casements: one three-light in each end bay, one two-light in the left hall bay, and two small single lights. The interior has not been inspected.
