Description

The dovecote to the west of Allington Castle is a circular stone structure built in the 12th century, originally part of the castle that was destroyed in 1174. It is said by Lord Conway to be one of the earliest dovecotes in England. The dovecote has been significantly altered since its construction, particularly when it was converted into an oast-house. This building is one of a pair, and all the listed buildings at Allington Castle form a group.
