Description
The former stables, now used as garages, date from around 1825 and are located about 70 metres northeast of Linton Park. The building is constructed of painted brick with a slate roof, and buff brick is used at the rear. The main structure features three taller pavilions that project forward—one at the center and one at each end. It is two storeys high and sits on a painted brick plinth.
The central pavilion has a broad plat band and a recessed central panel, while the pavilions have moulded pedimented gables. Low painted chimney stacks on the gables of the end pavilions resemble acroteria. At the center, there is a rectangular wooden clock tower with a single-handed clock beneath a bell and a weathervane.
The front has a regular arrangement of nine windows, including one recessed 12-pane sash at each end pavilion, two 12-pane sashes and a blind central window in the central pavilion, and two blind windows in each section of the main range, which flanks a low central loading door. Each section of the main range also has two tripartite sashes with cambered heads, positioned beside double doors with rectangular fanlights. The inner side of each end pavilion features a boarded door with a rectangular fanlight. The right end pavilion has double doors, while the central pavilion has a set of six folding doors, all with latticed top lights, and the latter is set beneath a shallow canopy supported by paired Ionic modillions. The building features wooden guttering.
To the west of the stables, most of the rectangular yard is paved with stone setts.
