Description
Romney House is an early 18th-century building located on the north side of Romney Place. It is two storeys tall with attics, constructed of red brick featuring grey headers. The roof is tiled and includes three dormers with wide wooden bracket eaves cornices. A brick stringcourse runs along the building. There are five sash windows with intact glazing bars set in flush wooden frames. The entrance features a doorcase with pilasters, a rectangular fanlight, and a large pediment-shaped hood supported by heavy carved brackets. At the east end of the front, there is a weatherboarded extension with one window, which includes a doorway with a door made of six fielded panels, the top two of which are cut away and glazed. To the right, there is another two-storey extension that is stuccoed, has an old tiled roof, and features two triple casements, along with garage doors on the ground floor.
