Description

The dovecote to the east of Allington Castle is a circular stone structure built in the 12th century, making it one of a pair originally part of the castle that was destroyed in 1174. It is noted by Lord Conway as possibly the earliest dovecote in England. Although it no longer has a roof, it still retains its pigeon holes. This dovecote is included in a group of listed buildings at Allington Castle.
