Description

Fox Pitt is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, with later alterations. The front elevation is faced with roughcast, while the side elevations are constructed of red and grey brick in Flemish bond. It features a plain tile roof and has a double-depth design. The building stands three storeys high on a galleted stone plinth with a chamfered top. There is a rendered plat band between the ground and first floors, and a brick band between the upper floors. The flat eaves soffits and hipped roof, which has hips returning to the rear, add to its character.

The front facade has a regular arrangement of five windows, consisting of recessed four-pane sashes. The second-floor windows are positioned under the eaves, while those on the first floor have cambered heads. Both upper floors are fitted with Venetian shutters. On the ground floor, there are two pentagonal bay windows beneath a continuous flat, modillioned hood that curves with the left bay and extends to the right into a single-storey roughcast addition featuring a Diocletian window with a tile keystone. The central entrance is a half-glazed door with a moulded architrave, also under the same hood. A farm bell is located towards the rear of the right gable. Additionally, there are two single-storey brick additions with hipped plain tile roofs at the rear. The interior has not been inspected. The house is said to be named after the 18th-century statesmen Fox and Pitt.
