Description
This is a house, originally part of a nursing home, dating from the 15th or 16th century and altered in 1890. The front facade is rendered over a timber-frame core, topped with a plain tile roof. The house is two storeys high, with a hipped roof punctuated by gables at both ends, the left gable continuous with the adjacent building at No. 19 Roseacre Lane. A large brick stack is centrally positioned. A small gabled dormer sits centrally on the roof. Two significant projecting gabled bays, believed to have been constructed in 1890, flank the front elevation, one at each end. Each bay features a large three-light casement window on the first floor, and large four-light French doors on the ground floor, both embellished with carved bargeboards. A small lean-to addition is situated at the right end, containing a window composed of two pointed arched lights set within a rectangular architrave. A central half-glazed door is sheltered by a lean-to roof covered in plain tiles. The interior reveals a timber-framed structure, possibly consisting of two or three bays, with another bay now incorporated into No. 19 Roseacre Lane. A timber-framed partition at the left end features a plain crown post with two downward braces. Further traces of beams and wall plates are visible. Details relating to this property can also be found under the listing for No. 19 Roseacre Lane.
