Description

Gravesend Railway Station (Up Side) was built in 1849. The station comprises a central single-storey block constructed of stock brick, originally featuring a cornice and colonnade of four columns, but now with the colonnade enclosed and housing a three-light sash window behind. This central block contains a room with a three-light bow window overlooking the platform. The central section is flanked by two two-storey stock brick pavilions with stuccoed cornices. Each pavilion has one sash window to the upper floor and a three-light sash window at ground floor level, the latter incorporating a door on the left-hand side. Recessed portions of two storeys, also constructed of stock brick, flank the pavilions. These recessed sections each have one sash window and a round-headed doorcase with a fanlight.
