Description

This is a headstone dedicated to John Knatchbull, located about 2 metres north of the north aisle of the Church of St. Stephen. It dates from the mid-18th century and is made of stone. The headstone has a segmental top and features carvings of crossed trumpets behind achievements, with scrolled edges. The inscribed panel is divided vertically; the right side commemorates John Knatchbull, who died in the 17th century, while the left side is dedicated to his daughter, who died in 1765. The inscription was barely legible at the time of the last survey.
