Description
The Mead is a house dating from the 17th century or early 18th century, with later alterations and additions. The ground floor is constructed of red brick in a mixed bond, while the first floor features painted brick with broadly-spaced applied studding. It has a plain tile roof and stands at two storeys high. The building has a flint plinth topped with brick and a hipped roof, with a central brick ridge stack. The windows display irregular fenestration, consisting of three casements: two three-light windows and a central single-light window, all with segmental heads on the ground floor. The entrance features a central ribbed door with a rectangular fanlight above and a flat bracketed hood. At the rear, there is a lean-to, and a later two-storey addition forms a cross-wing to the right, made of painted brick with applied studding, and the upper part of the gable end is tile-hung. This addition has a gabled plain-tile roof and one three-light casement window on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
