Description

Court Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with a front elevation that was updated in the 18th century and has seen later alterations. The front elevation features red and grey brick in Flemish bond, while the gable ends are constructed of late 16th or early 17th century red brick in English bond. The right side of the rear elevation is made of brick in Flemish bond on the ground floor, with tile-hanging above. The house has a plain tile roof and is two storeys high with a garret.

The front elevation has a rendered plinth, while the gable ends have a brick plinth. There is a plat band on the front elevation and boxed eaves. The front wall-plate shows a visible soffit mortice towards the left end. The roof is gabled, and there are projecting brick gable-end stacks from the late 16th or early 17th century with irregular offsets. The left stack sits on a flint plinth with stone quoins and a chamfered stone top, featuring two flues on a corniced rectangular upper plinth.

The fenestration is irregular, consisting of three two-light casements, with one to the left and two to the right of the door. The ground-floor windows have top lights and segmental heads. There are also blocked windows with shaped brick architraves on the right gable end, along with two single-light attic windows, two two-light first-floor windows with hollow-chamfered brick mullions, and two single-light windows on the ground floor. A similar two-light brick window is located on the first floor of the left gable end, behind the stack. The entrance features a boarded door with a segmental head, situated behind an open timber porch to the left of centre.

To the left, there is a two-storey brick rear wing with a much lower ridge and a roof that is hipped to the rear. A rear lean-to is positioned between the wing and the right end of the main range. The interior has not been inspected.
