Description

The Moat House is a house dating from the 16th or early 17th century, with a facade dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. It is timber framed and clad in painted brick, with a plain tile roof. The roof is hipped to the right and features a cogged brick eaves cornice. A multiple brick ridge stack is located centrally, and a small hipped dormer is present towards the right end. The windows are arranged irregularly, with four in total, including one three-light casement, one fixed light and two twelve-pane glazing bar sashes in open boxes. A central boarded door is set within a painted brick porch with a hipped, plain tiled roof. The interior was only partly inspected; a ground floor room on the right hand side contains hollow chamfered beams and joists, an inglenook fireplace, and exposed timbers. The house stands on a moated site.
