Description
The Library at Dover College, originally the gatehouse of St Martin's Priory, is a Grade II* listed building dating back to the 14th century. It was restored by G.E. Street in 1880. The priory was refounded by Archbishop Corbeuil in 1131.
The building is constructed of flint with stone dressings and features a renewed hipped tiled roof. It has two storeys, with the western part being lower, and includes three windows. Most windows are traceried, except for the western section, which has a 19th-century triple window that is round-headed on the first floor. There is drip moulding above two of the windows, and a central pointed arch with an external chimney stack to the left.
