Description

The Rectory is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of red and buff brick with a plain tiled roof. The building comprises two parallel ranges, united under a double-span roof with a plinth, partly of flint, and a plat band. The left end has boxed eaves to the hipped roof, and stacks are positioned at the left, centre, and right ends. The front facade features four glazing bar sashes on each floor, set in moulded surrounds. A central door consists of six raised and fielded panels, the top two being glazed, with a moulded surround and a pediment supported by brackets. A rendered outshot is located on the left side with one glazing bar sash. The brick plinth underlies the entire front, although this is built up in three different sections. The left end section formerly served as a parish room, containing a large baking oven associated with the parish bakery, at a time when the building functioned as the Rectory.
