Description

The wall located about 25 metres northeast of the barn at Langdon Abbey is a structure from the 12th century that has been partially rebuilt in the 19th century. It is made of coursed flint and stone, standing approximately 1.8 metres high and extending about 50 metres in length. Some sections have been completely rebuilt in flint, while the lower parts are made of stone. This wall now serves as part of the back wall of a cartshed but was originally part of the boundary wall of Langdon Abbey, which was founded in 1192. It is also said to incorporate elements of the gatehouse to the Abbey precinct.
