Description
Great Napchester Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 16th century and late 18th century. It is timber framed and clad with red brick, with the main elevation rendered. The roof is plain tiled, hipped, and features a gablet on the left side. The building stands two storeys high on a plinth, with a plat band and stacks located at the centre left and a projecting, offset stack with an attached red brick end wall at the front right.
On the first floor, there are two wooden casements to the left and three glazing bar sashes. The ground floor has two oriel windows to the left and two glazing bar sashes. A half-glazed door is situated at the centre right, framed by a pilaster and cornice surround. The right return of the house shows an exposed frame that is jettied, with plaster infill and decorative ogee bracing on the first floor. Inside, the full frame is visible, and there is a very large central inglenook fireplace. The house was described as "new" in an inventory from 1583.
