Description

This building on Beach Street dates from the early to mid-19th century. It is three storeys high and constructed of brown brick, with the ground floor stuccoed. The upper floors originally had three sash windows with glazing bars, though these are now missing. The central window on the first and second floors has been blocked. A doorcase with a pediment, cornice, and large consoles provides the entrance, and it now features a later 19th-century door. Number 161 is part of a group of buildings that includes numbers 157 and 165 (the odd-numbered properties).
