Description
Walton House and the adjoining coachhouse, built around 1805, is a house made of red brick that is rendered and channelled, topped with a slate roof. The building stands three storeys high on a plinth, featuring a string course and a parapet above the double span roof. There are stacks on the left side and one projecting at the right end. The first and second floors each have five glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor has four sash windows and a central half-glazed door. This door is set within a Doric porch that has a semi-circular fanlight and an open pediment, accessed by four moulded steps.
Inside, the original staircase consists of five flights with unmoulded balusters, supported by column principals on an open string. The handrail is wreathed and ramped, and there is a Gothick stair light. The interior also features some moulded plaster cornices and friezes.
The adjoining coachhouse at the rear is also made of red brick and has a slate roof. It is two storeys high with a hipped roof, featuring two segmental-headed windows and a loft door on the first floor. The coach entrance is located to the left, with a stable entrance and two segmentally-headed wooden casements to the right. Inside the coachhouse, two stalls and brick flooring are still present.
