Description

The White House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with extensions added in the late 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick with a plain tiled roof, with later extensions utilizing yellow stock brick and a slate roof. The main block is two storeys high with a parapet to a hipped roof, featuring a stack to the left. The first floor has three glazing bar sashes, while the ground floor has two sashes with painted surrounds. A central door consisting of six panels is set within a Doric porch. A recessed, two-storey wing extends to the rear, featuring a stack and a single glazing bar sash and one wooden casement, with a boarded door in a porch on the left side. A projecting two-storey wing was added to the right, with a parapet, hipped roof, and a stack at the end. This wing has two sashes on the first floor and a conservatory on the ground floor. Inside, a staircase from the 18th century retains unturned balusters, a ramped handrail, and dado panelling.
