Description
Temple Farmhouse is a house dating from the 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of painted flint and brick, topped with a plain tiled roof, and features two storeys and an attic. The window dressings and quoins were originally highlighted in red brick, but these have now been painted over. The house has stacks that project at both the left and right ends, along with two hipped dormers.
The front has a regular arrangement of windows, including two sashes and a central glazing bar sash on the first floor, and two segmentally headed sashes on the ground floor. The central entrance features a half-glazed door, which was originally made up of six raised and fielded panels, set within a moulded and panelled surround. This is topped by a rectangular fanlight and framed by a pilaster doorcase and cornice, all of which are enclosed within a mid-20th century rendered concrete porch with a flat roof.
To the right, there is a two-storey wing with a hipped roof that contains one wooden casement on each floor, along with a stack. There is also a one-storey projecting wing with one wooden casement, a boarded door, a stack, and a loft door in the end gable. The name of the house is derived from the site of a preceptory of the Knights Templar located in the adjacent field.
