Description

Chillenden Court Farm House is a house dating back to the 15th century, refaced around 1700. It is timber framed and now clad in painted brick, with a plain tiled roof. Originally a hall house, the building has two storeys and a basement, set on a plinth with a plat band raised over the window heads. The roof has pedimented Dutch gables and stacks positioned to the left, centre left, and right. The front has three-light wooden casement windows on each floor, with a two-light wooden casement to the centre, above a door consisting of six raised and fielded panels, the top two being glazed. A basement opening is located to the right. The rear elevation includes a hipped wing and an outshot, with the parapet of the end gable swept down along the edge of the outshot. Internally, the full timber frame of substantial size remains visible. An inglenook fireplace and the lower half of the original newel staircase also survive.
