Description

This is an 18th-century cottage and shop row, located on the west side of Lower Street, Eastry. The building is rendered and has a plain tiled roof. It is two storeys high, with a hipped roof featuring gablets and stacks in the centre, to the left, and at the right end. The upper floor has three glazing bar sash windows and one wooden casement. The left side features an arcaded shop front with twelve lights, while the ground floor has two glazing bar sash windows, one wooden casement, and a six-panel door with a plaster surround to the left. To the right of the door are two doors with keyed heads. The building was originally timber-framed. An addition to the right, dating to 1746, is visible on the rear return. The right elevation has a canted oriel window on the first floor and a shop front with leaded, multi-paned windows returning, featuring a central four-panel door and an iron-roofed hood supported by floriate brackets.
