Description

This is a group of early 16th-century timber-framed houses, altered in the 18th century, located on the south side of Upper Strand Street. The buildings, numbered 20 to 24, originally comprised five windows across. The ground floor of number 22 is constructed of painted stone rubble, while number 24 features painted brick. The upper floors are plastered. The windows are sash windows with intact glazing bars. Number 20 features a recessed doorway with pilasters, a projecting cornice, a rectangular fanlight, and a six-panel door. The doorway of number 24 has been altered but retains a carved cornice, a tall rectangular fanlight, and evidence of removed brackets, along with a six-panel door. Numbers 20 to 34 (even) are designated as a group.
