Description
Thornton Farmhouse is a 17th-century house constructed of red brick in irregular bond on a flint base, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, along with a basement set on a plinth featuring a plat band. There are stacks projecting at both the left and right ends, and two gabled dormers. The first floor has three wooden casement windows, while the ground floor has two wooden casements and a small wooden casement to the left of the central kneelered gabled porch. The entrance features a plank and stud door with an early iron head knocker and ring handles, with a basement opening to the left. At the rear, there is a hipped wing. The forecourt wall is made of brown brick, approximately 3 feet high, with corner piers and a gate pier, enclosing an area that extends about 5 metres in front of the entrance elevation.
