Description
The Headmaster's House is a house built around 1909 by Sir Henry Tanner in the Arts and Crafts Georgian style. It features a pebbledashed exterior with red brick dressings and a plain tiled roof. The structure consists of large blocks, with the main rooms highlighted by a projecting symmetrical section on the right. The house has two storeys and an attic, set on a plinth with quoins and a modillion eaves cornice.
A central projection includes a broken pediment, and the hipped roof has stacks on the left side and three dormers, with the outer two being pedimented. The windows follow a regular pattern, with seven glazing bar sashes on the first floor, the central one having a keyed segmental head. The ground floor has six glazing bar sashes, and the central entrance features a half-glazed, moulded door with sidelights, set within a segmental porch supported by columns.
To the left, there is a recessed two-storey and attic wing with two flat-roofed dormers, stacks at the end left and to the rear, and two glazing bar sashes on each floor. Additionally, there is an irregularly placed large staircasement with a keyed segmental head and a wooden casement below. A glazed conservatory is located on the right return of the house.
