GV II

Railway station. Opened in 1847 as part of the South Eastern Railway. Yellow brick in Flemish bond with slate roof and 4 brick and stuccoed chimneystacks. Two storeys; 5 windows. End bays separated from central 3 bays by deep pilasters with stuccoed caps. Stuccoed parapet with central raised and curved panel. Sashes with marginal glazing, end ones tripartite. Portico infront of 3 central bays has 4 Tuscan columns supported on hipped slate roof. Plinth. One storey extension to right of 1892. Platform side is similar but most sashes do not have marginal glazing. The canopy has been renewed and is supported on 8 cast iron brackets.
