Description

The passenger shelter at Sandwich Railway Station dates from around 1847 and was constructed for the South Eastern Railway. It is believed to be one of only three or four such shelters still in existence. The structure features weatherboarding and has a sloping slate roof. The wooden walls on the side facing the platform were removed around 1985, and this side is now supported by four wooden piers. Inside, there is built-in slatted wooden seating.
