Description

The Martyr's Monument in St Edmund's Chartered Graveyard was erected in 1851 to commemorate Christopher Ward, a linen weaver from Dartford, who was a Protestant burned on Dartford Brent on July 19th, 1555. The monument also honors Nicholas Hall and Margery Pollen, who were both burned in 1555. This stone memorial is designed in the shape of a spire and features buttresses on a knapped flint plinth, which is surrounded by iron spear railings.
