Description
Nos 1 and 2 on The Borough is a late 16th to 17th century timber-framed building that has been refaced. It stands two storeys tall with attics and is plastered. The building has an old tiled roof featuring two gables and a small hipped dormer. There are two windows in the dormers and five-light bays on the first floors. The shopfronts were added in the late 19th century. The side elevation is partly tile hung and partly pebble dashed, while the rear elevation displays two tile-hung gable ends. Nos 1 to 4 and Nos 7 to 21 form a group of buildings that are all listed as grade II. This building also forms a group with Nos 72 to 74 and St Mary Northgate Hall on Northgate.
