Description

Thanington House is an early 19th-century building located at 140 Wincheap. It stands three storeys tall and is cement rendered, featuring a rusticated base, cornice, and parapet. The facade includes three sash windows, although some glazing bars are missing, and two bay windows on the ground floor. There are iron balconies on the first floor and distinctive quarter spherical hoods above the windows. The porch is supported by two Tuscan columns and has a semi-circular fanlight above a six-panelled door. On either side of the house, there are two curved cemented walls with coping. Thanington House is part of a group that includes Nos 126 to 136 (even) and No 140.
