Description
Lion Cottage is a mid-19th century pair of cottages located on The Street in Bekesbourne. The building is two storeys high, with a ground floor made of red brick and a first floor that is timber-framed and plastered. It features a tiled roof topped with a large brick chimneystack. The gable ends are adorned with fretted bargeboards, which are supported by carved lions on one side and carved elephants on the other. The decorative curved framing adds to the architectural interest. The front elevation includes two five-light windows and two double-light casements on the ground floor, each with moulded panels above. The doorways are framed by cambered doorcases. These cottages were part of the Bifrons estate.
