Description

Nos 7 and 8 The Friars is an early 19th century pair of houses that stand three storeys tall and are colourwashed with a hipped tiled roof. The buildings feature three sash windows in total, with some glazing bars still intact. Both the ground and first floors have cambered arches. No 7 has a moulded wooden doorcase with a weatherhood, a blank frieze, pilasters, and a recessed door. No 8 has a nearly identical doorcase but includes a modillion cornice, two pilasters, and a six fielded panelled door. There is a right side carriage entrance, and the side elevation of No 7 is partially tile-hung. Together with Nos 1 and 2 King Street, Nos 7 to 9 form a cohesive group.
