Description

Stonerock Farmhouse is a circa 1540 farmhouse, subject to later alterations. The building is timber-framed with close-studded plaster infilling. The first floor of the east front and the south half of the west front overhangs, supported by protruding floor joists and brackets. The end walls have been built out to act as buttresses to the first floor. The north end wall contains a stone inscribed "W A 1614" and is constructed of English bond brick. A brick chimneybreast with offsets to each end wall is present. The steeply pitched tiled roof has a 16th-century chimneystack and a pentice to the north half of the west front. Gable ends feature kneelers. Casement windows with brick dripstones are located in the west front, with two windows facing east and two facing west. A simple doorcase is visible. The original interior crown post roof was replaced with one featuring side purlins and queen struts.
