Description
Canterbury West Station was built in 1846 and is a single-storey building with a stuccoed exterior. The hipped roof is currently covered in corrugated iron, and it features a wide eaves cornice. There are six sash windows with intact glazing bars. The central portion of the building is recessed and supported by two Greek Doric fluted columns and two pilasters. On either side of this central section, there is a two-storey portion with three windows. This station is located near the terminus of the Canterbury and Whitstable railway, which opened in 1830 and was the earliest railway in the South of England.
