Description
The overhead signal box, built in the late 19th to early 20th century, is located on Station Road West. It features weatherboarding and a slate roof with plain bargeboards. The structure is two storeys tall and consists of five bays. The lower storey of the south-west elevation has two small end windows in each bay, with a ledge above supported by small iron brackets. The main floor contains five horizontally sliding sash windows, each with four panes per half sash, and has overhanging eaves supported by iron brackets. Access to the signal box is provided by open tread steps and a gallery. The signal box is suspended above the railway line, supported by a lattice girder cradle, which is in turn held up by lattice girder posts.
