Description
Meister Omers is a building located within the Cathedral precincts, originally constructed in the early 15th century as a lodging for the Prior's guests. It was rebuilt in 1399 and decorated in the early 15th century, with later remodelling in the 19th century. The structure has two storeys and attics, featuring a flint-faced exterior with stone quoins. It has a steeply pitched tiled roof with five hipped dormers and includes buttresses. The windows are mullioned and transomed. Notable medieval features can be found in the south-west corner and at the back, including stone quoins, a blocked arch, and 15th-century windows. Inside, the building boasts Elizabethan wall paintings and is believed to have the widest medieval fireplace in England, measuring over 18 feet wide.
